By January all GIA dossiers will be digital, which makes me wonder if people who want a hard copy of a certificate will start using other labs. ;)

"Earlier this year, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) announced that it would issue only digital grading reports, and in January, the GIA will take its first big step toward that.

Beginning Jan. 2, 2023, GIA’s Diamond Dossier—the lab’s most popular report—will be digital only and printed versions will no longer be produced.

Users can access GIA’s digital Diamond Dossier reports on the GIA app (available for Android and iOS devices), on GIA’s online Report Check portal, and through GIA’s application programming interface that integrates report data into the client’s records.

The GIA has said it wants to make all its reports digital only by 2025. All existing printed GIA Diamond Dossier reports—as well as other printed reports—are still valid.

GIA has an extensive transition program for clients, which includes a dedicated web page, how-to videos, webinars, resources for retailers, and an email outreach campaign to help ensure a smooth transition for everyone who uses and relies on GIA reports.

The GIA Diamond Dossier, introduced in 1998, is GIA’s most popular report, with 33 million in circulation. The Dossiers are available for D-to-Z diamonds with weights of 0.15– ... "
