"It’s nearly October, and while we talk about opals all year round, you’ll surely hear about them even more in the weeks to come (and, as the stone is an excellent one for the holidays, even longer).
With the halfway mark of September now passed, it seems right to kick off October’s opal fest with a piece worthy of such a gem—an exquisite ring from San Francisco–based jeweler Jye’s International.
As is the case with many opal statement pieces, this is a one-of-a-kind ring, with a retail price tag that won’t come readily to the average jewelry shopper. This is the type of piece that transcends trends and consumer demands, perhaps destined to a collector’s jewelry box of treasures.
It might not be worn every day, and the choice of either yellow or white metal is up to the wearer. Opals look fabulous in gold—the warmth brings out its fire—but Jye’s successfully makes the case for opal in white gold. Perhaps the 12.5 carat center stone and nearly two and a half carats of diamonds have something to do with it? Even a steadfast wearer of yellow gold might be compelled to mix and match for the opportunity to have this jewel radiate from their finger.
