This opal is from Kroit.
I say it is a mystery opal because it has a shape of a little tube with a tiny side appendix.
What it is? I have seen lots of Kroit and other boulder opals and I have never seen such an appendix on any of them.
What do you think?

Re: A mystery opal
I could have sworn your video was here last night, but today there was the full link instead so I edited your post to embed it. All you need is the number of the video placed between the YT brackets, but I left the full link below it since I just replied to your other post asking where the link to OS' video was.
As for the opal, I'm sorry but I don't have any Koroit so I have no experience with them and can't help you, but hopefully somebody else can. We may need someone from Oz to chime in on this one.

Re: A mystery opal
I have a couple potch ones I bought in Tuscon from Sally Sedawie when her and Paul vended there. They thought they were pipe opal so it would just be the rare intersection of 2 at a junction. If they had been limb casts it would be attached with the proper ratios. Also got some clams. Im such a specimen person not being the expensive stuff reseller. You cant just wander a show as a vendor to be hypnotized. You need to make special trips. I would defer to the boulder opal miners for the science them or if there are varieties.

Thank you! So what do you think about this one? Also a rare intersection? There is also kind of unusual surface on the sides.
Also Here are two close ups. Mine are not a pipe opal. It is a matrix.

BTW, could you please post some pictures of your opals with limbs?
Thank you!

Re: A mystery opal
Nice ones. Matrix agreed. I meant pipe by the way it forms in the ground as the miners micro label it.
The opal here is almost always partially dried or at least segmented prior to or as mined.
Long gem opal and wood replacement - wet
a small twig with bright veining
A Peacock Mine Opal, no wood in the replacement
You would think I had more recent pictures that had been process to shrink them but i dont.
Arrgh as i run into a windows permission issue not allowing my 8 programing to talk to my phone, no pictures from the last decade for us easy. I did just burn a half hour plus. Time to actually get a linux based system made in this decade, lol, to stop this coupcoup big brother nonsense to an extent.
Gotta run anyway before it hits the 90s again. Equipment is never easy. Best to pay a lease LOL

Re: A mystery opal
Thank you, SwordfishMining! Very nice! I see what you meant under the limbs. Yet the limb in mine opal looks differently. It does not appear a continuation of the main body, it appears to be growing out from the main body just as if it were a wood or maybe a worm tube.

Re: A mystery opal
The rates of replacement change with the shrinkage and shapes. Visual recognition is the main thing around here. Limb or lump LOL.
