Opalised wood from Australia

Here is an opalised wood from Australia.
There is an interesting fault line, where the direction of the wood is slightly changed.
I wonder if this occurred before silica entered it or after.
It was filmed dry and wet and there are some microscopic images in the end.

That's a beauty, Mila, and you did a great job of videoing it so thanks for sharing it with us. I have an article on petrified wood, though not necessarily opalized, to post when I have room for it so I'm glad you posted this. :)

Thanks, Pink Diamond!
Here is one more unusual Australian opal

It is a septarian formation. The meaning of septarian comes from the Latin 'septum' meaning 'a dividing partition between two tissues or cavities'. Septarians are found in many places around the world. However, opalised septarians are found only in Australia and not so often. The video shows the opal dry, wet, and a few microscopic pictures. By the end I posted two pictures of septarian tree trunk and a rock formation.
This particular opal is probably a fossil of a plant.

I set up across from Ron Griffith for years. Here is his reply to my big wood claims.
Boulder. 1 of 7 chunks, i think, 120 ki, not sure. Apparently I dont have a picture of all of them together.

My little gems offerings compared to the trays of stuff Ron has. He's my supplier LOL.
