Must be a nest somewhere

Post by KKHK »

Nothing much to report, inspirations where as bad as the weather this past winter.
Now finally, it seems to pick up.....

This weeks projects:
Tiger iron for a friend in Austria

And some Indonesian coral

Looks ideal material for a snake... :) :)

Thanks for looking, and lets make this a less hectic year ahead, Kurt

Wow, Kurt, I love both of them, and my daughter would absolutely love the snake since she used to raise snakes. I believe she still has her albino corn snake, and that piece kind of resembles him so I'm going to send her the link to your post so she can see it. Sweet! I also love the point, and depending on the size I'd want to turn it into an arrow piece. They're both great material for each, and you always do a superb job. :)

Hope summer brings you more inspiration, and thanks so much for sharing those beauties with us. It's always a treat to see what you've been carving. :D

Started a new snake last week, after a rather huge response to the first one, including from a friend who asked for something last year, but never came up with a design she wanted. Now I slowly fell in love with the second one too, and don't want to give either of them away. :) :)

So, looks like, I gotta make a third too, and then let her choose from this one or the third. First one is simple, but I like it better despite of improved design in the second.

Number 3 is underway. This time there are a few soft spots to work around, and/or to include in overall design.
This time also, back and front lines up.

And started another Brazilian for "Fire & Ice" Challenge on FB

As usual, stuck on the face, yet again.

Thanks for looking, Kurt

I really like the color on #1, then #2, but #3 is too dark for my taste. I love the way the lighter color shows off the snake pattern best, but they're all beautifully carved, Kurt. Hope you can get the face on the FA just right, and I'm looking forward to seeing some colors come out of that one. Nice work, and good luck on the face. :)

I like all the snake iterations, but have to agree that there is something special about the first one.

Not Fire Agate for a change, its Brazilian agate. Its the colour contrast that interests me here. The girl frying in the sun, laying on "ice".
