She had one boss over her who really looked out for her, and allowed her to learn the *********** program on her own. She loved it and thrived, but was still held back by that pesky old lack of a sheepskin, which translates into her doing the same work as people with higher titles and pay grades, without getting the same benefits.
The former boss had moved on, and she essentially carved out a new position for herself, and soon became so well versed in the program that she was leading the way, and lo and behold, her current bosses took notice, and said, 'well this isn't fair', and despite there not being enough in the budget for a raise and promotion, they finagled things to make it happen for her because they saw she deserved it, and I couldn't be prouder.
And there's icing on the cake, too. When they did her review, and told her about the raise in title and pay grade, they also told her she was getting an award, which is apparently to be presented to her at their next event.
So if you can see a really bright beacon of light coming from Arkansas, don't worry.
