OK, so since there are those here with an interest in the spiritual, I'll post this drawing of mine as the first for this topic. As most of you know my art is what led me to carving opals. This drawing is a portrait and tribute to my husband. Book the poem and the drawing will be soon published in a book, "ALL THINGS NEW". It should be out in a few weeks.
Here's a few tidbits about me:
I did my first oil painting when I was 7 years old.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Magna cum laude.
I had my art displayed in the Art Institute of Chicago.
And my work has been internationally collected.
This large drawing is White Prismacolor Pencil on Black Canson Mi-Tienes Paper and measures 20x23"
A powerful piece, this intricate drawing is a depiction of a true soldier; a man who walks for God. This man grew up in the Mexican gangs of East L.A. From a troubled background, he came to the saving knowledge of Christ with no shoes on his feet, over a plate of spaghetti. Leaving behind his former weapons of war, he now battles the destruction of the enemy with the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit.
Displayed here are his repentance, his offering of his life to Christ, and his pure and utter worship given to a merciful and loving God. He now knows what it means to be One True Soldier.

I once was a soldier, fervent in battle,
Obeying the wrong commands,
Serving the darkness, the father of lies,
Lured by his evil demands.
God, in his mercy, looked down in love
And flooded my soul with light.
The past behind me, I press on toward the goal
Walking by faith, not by sight.
We wrestle not against flesh and blood;
The enemy seeks to deceive.
God gives us power to overcome,
If only we will believe.
So I choose this day Whom I will serve;
My trust is in God’s Word.
I put on my armor to fight the good fight,
One true soldier for the Lord.
