Does the book have any phacops from Sylvania ohio? That's just about 40 miles from me. I take the kids to the fossil park and look for bits of them. I've got lots of heads and butts from molting, but only one complete!
I'll check tomorrow. I was born & raised until the age of 8 in a rural area, S.E. of Cleveland. I used to find trilobite parts & crinoid pieces all of the time in the fields around us.
Haven't visited this thread in a while. Guess I'll try to activate it again.
An unknown fossil coral given to me by a friend, Top is how I got it. Bottom is after 24 hrs soaking in strong bleach water & another 24 in plain water.
Front tooth. What I don't know. Have not cleaned it. The dust is still in the scratches. I got a tiny 3/4"? fir cone yesterday in white opal. The new claim is a "mine" as Scott puts it. [img]

The last one is the kids taking a selfie on The Stone Tree. Definitely bigger than the "avocado" still on the dirt.
Nice tooth. Some sort of plant eater. I have a couple of large teeth like that buried in a box in the basement somewhere. Gotta get down there & dig through more boxes. It's like going on a treasure hunt every time I do. I have fossils & minerals down there that I've forgotten that I had.
Forgot I had this one. This is Limestone Coquina removed from the pit at the site of the first launch pad built at Cape Canaveral, Florida. An old rockhound friend worked on the project and saved several small chunks of the removed material. Friend is now gone, but his memory lives on in this small piece.
