I've not seen this competition before, and don't know if any of you are aware of it either so I'm posting this in case anyone might be interested in entering, and if anyone does, please let us know so we can root for you. From the International Colored Gemstone Association's newsletter, here's their blurb on it, and the link to it. :)
***Entries Now Open for the International Opal Jewellery Design Awards
It is time to start designing and carving an entry for the most prestigious opal jewellery design award in the world to have an opportunity share in a prize pool worth around AUD$30,000.00. The International Opal Jewellery Design Awards was established in 2000 to promote the maximization of colour and carats of Australian opal. There are a number of professional, non-professional and open categories for opal carving and jewellery design. All entries must feature Australian opal either freeform or with an undulating surface. Uhhh, Its not international other than the call for any jewelers and carvers to advertise them because it is limited to only Australian rough to be worked.

Yes, it is all about Aussie opals, but I figured that was to be expected, and that like me, most opalholics have some sort of Australian rough, or might want to get some to participate so I wanted to make sure this one was posted.

We already know how they feel about 'other' opals since they believe theirs are the finest. To each his own I guess. I like all types, wherever they're from. ;)
