Re: Share Your Gemstone Photographs!
Im posting this picture because of the clairity shown in the stone on the left side of the pic, a tourmaline-the camera focus was on target to see the basket through the stone, the stone was listed as FL & about the only stuff on the gem is the dust, not original, on the stone-

That really is way cool, m76. You're really honing those skills.

Re: Share Your Gemstone Photographs!
Was looking at the topaz tourmaline pendent, cleaned it, reshot pics & the camera sang this tune...the stones were shot looking down from the top of the gem, through the material, focused on the bottom of the stone, the line down the center is the bottom of the stone as seen from the top, focus a little tricky but what results, like a colored water sample with facets-

Pretty cool
Re: Share Your Gemstone Photographs!
As a hobbyist im able to use devices to help me show as well as possible some of the gems i have, i can now clean my pendents for presentation, as dust removal at little or no cost to me, another result, mexican fire opal, the stone is 4.15cts, diamond cut, almost flawless with little or no hazing within the stone, cut by Frank schaffer

Im sorry for reshooting some of these items, but the results are interesting & visual-this is the ruby pendent, a slight view of the silk in the top ruby is seen, the 3rd ruby is showing a crystal look, good color, & the 2 bottom stones are very clean & show very well color/clarity that better stones should show-

Yes, some interesting stones, but you need to fix the captions
Here is a piece of Clay Canyon/Fairfield variscite (+other rare minerals) I bought from Alaskan Lapidary a year ago, or so. Find stuff from that location quite fascinating...
