I have question on green fire opal. From what i know chrysopal is the yellowish green or an nickel rich opal. While the prase opal green opal with nickel or chromium.
My 'green fire' opal doesn't look like normal chrysopal and prase opal. My opal came from Wonogiri, Indonesia. I am confused what label suitable for the stone.

very cool material :)
opal names types and terminology is complicated topic and its quite confusing because there is a lot of mixed info different definitions or opinions

like you said 'chrysopal' should be used for yellow/green opal types (greek chrysos = gold) and 'prase opal' should be used for green opal types (greek prasinon = green) but in real world most people use both names for apple green opals

your type is deep green color or yellow like in 1st picture with rough - and I'm quite sure it's from chromium and iron

prase opal name is used for apple green opals because its very similar to chrysoprase and both are colored by nickel and they might occur it the same location
*so in theory chromium opals should have different name then apple green nickel opals (similar to chrome chalcedony and chrysoprase)
> green chrome opal ?

btw. can you make video of the faceted opal ?

That's lovely, but what kind of cut is that with such a large table? It looks abnormally large, and I've never seen that done on purpose before so I'm curious. :?:

Sorry but the name for it is only Green Opal. Play of color can be added to the base color if it has it. Here is Yellow opal and as it grades to green it just becomes not yellow opal anymore as green is next to white in common. Clarity is the saving grace where it can be faceted.
