Bound for the Opal Fields of South Australia
Folks the Opal fields are one less with lambina now closed to mining.
Coober Pedy, Andamooka, Mintabie and Lightning Ridge continue to be the main sources of Opal, and priduction is also in the order listed.
If you are looking for something special, now is the time to pipe up as I am heading back in October to stock up for Christmas.
Opal is so scarce on the fields now, it pays to get in early.
I have been very lucky with my requests for specific Opals, so dont be afraid to ask. I cut out all the middlemen to give you the best price possible.

I've got a friend interested in Boulder Opal. I told him to message you if he didn't see what he needed in your store. He's been burned before getting boulder and having it arrive with no color. I'll give him the heads up.

I wouldn't know what to ask for since I would love to have all kinds of opals, but my pocketbook doesn't match my desires so I'll just wish you good fortune and safe travels like John did. I'm looking forward to seeing what you bring home, and always have my fingers crossed that I can afford something. Have a great trip!

Good Queensland Boulder is very populat at the moment. But good color costs good money. I wouldnt buy any boulder Opal that was not faced. Chasing color in Boulder is usually fruitless. You pretty much get what you see IMHO. When its split, hit with the hammer, it usually splits at the color. The color can be sooo good, its usually faced up if its any good as the miner doesnt find much and wants to know what he is selling.
What is your favorite color? I will see what is going when I am over there.
