Folks I had this piece of Coober Pedy rough sold before I could blink.

It weighs 3/4 ounce as was priced on the basis of the green color, so was very cheap even for all the green color.

I could see a gemmy layer sitting on the black potch. It was very hard to see, I dont think the miner noticed it at all.

My customer has had a go at it.....folks even I am amazed. Ive checked the color, the pics not enhanced.
There is indeed a nice color bar sitting on the black potch.

I think I can see the price of a Korean car already with more to come, might end up a merc.
His rubbed rough, I cant tell you any prices really but I think hes got back 10 times what he paid with more of the same to come.
The evenness and purity of the color bar level, is really a miracle of nature. Honestly if that color had been on show, the rough would have cost 10 x the price it did and not be affordble to many people.

If you slow the video, you can see a hint at one end and theres a little window on the back that shows the good color. Its winter sun so not ideal.
If I can get permission I will add some prices.

Good deal. I like opals that sell themselves. I do hate having to decide where to put the saw blade.

That is one sweet opal, mick, and apparently the buyer got it for a steal now that you can see exactly what's in there. Lucky dude. Are you kicking yourself for not selling it for more? :?:

Not really, you cant charge for what you cant see in my book.
Im kicking myself that I didnt cut it. The pic of the big dark base with the gem bar that I posted
that will be even better I reckon.

Opals are like fish in the seas. Hard to find, harder to catch, unless you've been doing it awhile; in which case luck can be applied too, and until its on the plate the taste can only be imagined done any other way.
