Hey y'all. If someone wants me to carve their opal rough, any idea how best to charge? I know it would depend a bit upon how intricate it is, etc. but ballpark figures? Any clue? lol I believe this would be more wholesale pricing as It think they'll resell it as opposed to carving for a personal collection.

How much time did you spend on your trinity? Or any other of your carvings? How much is your time worth at Dell and then of course materials. Can you approximate how much time it will take? Just ideas that hopefully help. :)

My thoughts exactly. It would depend on the time required to complete the job, plus materials. ;)

Take your asking prices of your other carvings, divided by 2 and subtracted from initial cost. Then subtract cost of rough. Rest should be the hourerly rate+ utilities+insurance(s)+supplies, etc. And Those shouldn't change no master who's the piece is for. At least that's what the books will tell you. That is assuming they provide the rough.

So the formula is something like:

(rough + (hours × price per hour) + supplies + insurance estimates + utilities estimates) = wholesale
Wholesale × 2 = discount web price
Wholesale × 300 = retail price

Or it was something like that... Results May vary.

Ok, by now you might realize you don't charge enough! that's why I'm never sell mine!

Tell me. There are no references for what the market will bear for the red headed child. (And Pink I mean that in the most special unique incomparable way, not the and also way) It was easier to quit selling and just mine.
