For those who like to use metal clay, Cool Tools has nano gems (man-made) that can take the high heat without losing color. Here's their ad and link to their blog on them, and if anyone uses them, please let us know, and even show us what you make. :)

"Over 10 New Colors!

Nano Gems are safe to fire up to 1675°F / 913°C on an open shelf in silver clay, with the exception of the Dark Orange and Orange, which can safely be fired up to 1650°F / 899°C on an open shelf in silver clay.

It is very important to fire with an azure, or a hole for light to pass through, behind the gem. Without an azure, Nano Gems can change color, get muddy or lose luster.

Cool. I wonder how they do with borosilicate glass for the arty glass people? (hard glass snobs not factory soft glass producers)
