"The new Pomellato Bal Harbour boutique is meant to immerse clients in the visual and tactile world of the brand and bring some of the Italian house’s savoir faire to the sunny shores of Miami.

Pomellato’s second-floor store inside Bal Harbour Shops, at 9700 Collins Ave., offers a sophisticated ambience with “an exuberant and very Milanese feel,” says Pomellato president Nathalie Diamantis. This is the company’s first store in South Florida, though Pomellato jewelry has been sold by other area retailers. The brand also has U.S. retail locations in New York, Chicago, and Beverly Hills.

“Pomellato has already been in Miami for nearly two decades, and we have a very loyal following,” Diamantis tells JCK in an email interview. “Bal Harbour is the premier luxury mall in the Americas, with a rich branded jewelry presence, creating a great atmosphere for jewelry shoppers.

“Given Pomellato’s eclectic international client base, Bal Harbour is the perfect home to receive our diverse and loyal clientele. We are particularly delighted to make new friends of Pomellato in Bal Harbour Shops, where can they discover our main pillars Nudo, Iconica, and Pomellato Together.”

One of the first things people notice at the new boutique is its brass-embossed exterior. “We chose brass in two different alternating striped finishes that made the facade vibrant and alive when you walk past the store,” Boris Barboni, Pomellato’s chief marketing and product officer, says.

This kind of design decision shows how Pomellato creates distinctive spaces that spotlight the brand’s balance between contemporary luxury, craftsmanship, and an unconventional soul, says Barboni.

“The Pomellato boutiques are our home away from home, where the atmosphere is quietly luxurious, welcoming, and warm,” he adds.

Pomellato imported Italian-made furniture for the store, to reflect the brand’s Milan origins.

Archways on the storefront and throughout the interior are a callback to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan, where the company is based. The 604-square-foot Bal Harbour store—which was designed by Pomellato’s in-house architect Davide Caprioli—also features hallmarks of the brand’s other shops and its signature Milanese flair, Diamantis says. Furniture in the boutique echoes the designs of Pomellato’s iconic jewelry collections, Diamantis says.

“Our physical stores are designed to convey the authentic style of the brand. We want to spread the feel and spirit of Milan all over the world,” she says. “Pomellato boutiques are decorated in a retro ’70s Italian style with eye-catching and contemporary prints acting as the backdrop to our jewels. The interiors and furniture are all designed and fabricated in Italy, bringing the quality, comfort, and essence of Milan.”

“The large, open design of our window displays offers a full view of the treasures inside of the store. The window displays mirror those of the Rome boutique, along with the iconic red-and-gold armchairs, which are a tribute to our Iconica collection,” says Diamantis.

Archways are a common design theme in Pomellato’s stores, including the new Miami-area boutique.

Among the jewelry on display at the Bal Harbour opening earlier this month were pieces from Pom Pom Dot, a heritage throwback collection Pomellato recently introduced that uses a button design from 1974. The double-sided Pom Pom Dot necklaces and bracelets can be flipped between diamonds, mother-of-pearl, and malachite.

“We just celebrated the opening of the Bal Harbour location with several events for our top clients in the region. For the preview, we featured an exclusive selection of high jewelry from Milan,” Diamantis says. “In the future, we ... "
