Sotheby’s to Offer Largest René Boivin Collection Ever Auctioned

Post by PinkDiamond »

There are some fabulous pieces in this one, but I'm afraid I can't say I like any of René Boivin's pieces. The Cartier leopard bangle is more my style, and I'm intrigued by their devant-de-corsage bow brooch and wish I could see it in hand to see exactly how it's made. Check these out and see what you think of them as they head to auction. ;)

"The largest collection of jewels by René Boivin ever to come to auction will be included in Sotheby’s Iconic Jewels: Her Sense of Style sale opening on May 2.

The auction will feature over two dozen Boivin pieces, as well as influential designs from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, David Webb, Boucheron, and other premier jewelers, among its more than 250 high jewelry lots.

“When you come across a jewelry collection as consistently stunning and substantial as Iconic Jewels: Her Sense of Style, it’s a heart-stopping moment, the kind you know you’ll never forget,” said Marie-Cécile Cisamolo, jewelry specialist at Sotheby’s Geneva, in a statement. “This collection, with its many dazzling signed jewels from the most beloved and sought-after design periods in jewelry history, is truly one of a kind and one of the most important private jewelry collections I’ve ever seen.

“It is an incredibly powerful and sophisticated love letter to jewelry, from an enlightened private collector, which I know will inspire other collectors and connoisseurs all around the world.”

Below is a preview of highlights of the Iconic Jewels sale, including a batch of pieces by Boivin, the Parisian maison credited with some of the 20th century’s most original jewelry creations.
