Created Diamonds Had a Small but Mighty Presence at the Oscars

Post by PinkDiamond »

It's actually good to see celebs willing to wear LGDs at awards functions, and this does show us closeups of quite a few pieces, but the pics of white diamonds on a white background were obviously taken by an inexperienced photographer since the diamonds all look dull and lifeless so we can only imagine their sparkle and how good they must look in person. ;)

"Diamonds were a mainstay of the red carpet at the 96th Academy Awards on March 10, as well as at various related events. And a small but meaningful subset of them were lab-grown.

The most high-profile example belonged to actress Jennifer Lawrence, who appeared on stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood to present the Best Actress award. In a look that landed her on many best jewelry lists, Lawrence accessorized her pretty polka-dot Dior gown with the new Galaxy tennis necklace and matching bracelet by Swarovski.

With its mix of fancy cuts set in 18k white gold, the 47 ct. lab-grown diamond necklace and mixed-shape tennis bracelet are part of the Austrian crystal giant’s new Galaxy collection, conceived and designed by Giovanna Engelbert, Swarovski’s global creative director, as an ode to the cosmos. The collection will make its official debut at the opening of Swarovski’s new Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York City this fall.

NYC-based Smiling Rocks also scored big, with actress Catherine O’Hara wearing the brand’s Haute Couture Dream necklace and ring to the Oscars, where she and her Beetlejuice costar Michael Keaton reunited to present the awards for Best Makeup and Styling as well as Best Production Design.

O’Hara’s $125,000 necklace featured 74.65 cts. of lab-grown diamonds set in 14k white gold, including a 6.01 ct. round diamond center stone, while her Floral Haute Couture ring held 3 cts. of lab-grown stones set in 14k white gold.

Just two nights before the Academy Awards, singer-songwriter Camila Cabello wore the same Haute Couture Dream necklace to the WME pre-Oscars party. Cabello also donned a Smiling Rocks necklace for the Vanity Fair Oscar-night party—but in true iconoclast fashion, she styled it as an anklet.
