Vintage Stands Out in Pinterest’s 2024 Wedding Report

"Wedding season is upon us, and Pinterest has released its annual report to inspire those planning—and shopping—for the big day. Vintage holds strong as a theme throughout the report, as seen in trends for everything from wedding cakes to dresses, with a special emphasis on the ’70s era.
Also notable in this year’s report is a trend toward paring down: Brides and grooms seem less concerned with having big soirées and more into quieter, intimate events. But what does that mean for jewelry and style?
As far as themes go, people are turning to nature when planning their weddings, with an increase in searches for terms like “earthy wedding dress” and “forest fairy wedding dress,” as well as “garden wedding reception outdoor” and “small forest wedding.” This theme extends to beauty, with searches for “messy bun hairstyles for wedding” and “clean bridal makeup,” among other terms, seeing big jumps.
For wedding jewelry that might correspond to this aesthetic, one can’t help but see visions of earthy gems and antique rings—soft, simple, romantic. The latest jewelry search terms cited in the report indicate styles like those are popular, as searches for “vintage wedding rings antique” and “gold wedding rings vintage” have risen significantly.
Large increases in searches for “gold bridal earrings” and “gold wedding rings couple” suggest a preference for simple, basic (but not boring!) jewels. Also trending more in jewels, according to the report, were “bridal choker” and “pearl jewelry wedding.”
On another note, color looks to be trending in a big way, as Pinners search for colorful wedding decor and attire. In jewelry, “blue wedding rings” was a popular search term, and Pinners showed interest in colors like burnt orange, sage green, pink and orange, and pastel purple for weddings.
The report spotlights Gen Z searches, noting an increase in terms like “red bride,” “red rose wedding,” “red gold wedding,” and “dark red suit.” Could rose gold see a resurgence in wedding jewelry as a result?
