This is for a 3 hour in-person seminar on pearls set to take place in Tucson Arizona that anyone can sign up for, and GIA grads will get 10% off. Why This Seminar?

Join GIA experts live in person at the Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum for an exclusive hands-on Continuing Education seminar offered only during the Tucson Gem Show. Discover the beauty and history behind the “queen of gems” in this seminar focused on pearls.

Learners will have the opportunity to handle various pearls in this lab classroom setting and gain experience in evaluating pearls using trusted, repeatable techniques under the guidance of an experienced instructor.

* Differentiate between natural and cultured pearls, saltwater vs. freshwater pearls, nacreous vs. non-nacreous pearls, pearl imitations, and mabe pearls.

* Understand the main types of cultured pearls including akoya, South Sea, Tahitian and freshwater.

* Learn how to apply the GIA 7 Pearl Value Factors™ (Size, Shape, Color, Luster, Surface, Nacre and Matching) to different pearl types.

* Practice techniques to systematically evaluate pearl quality whether you are examining a single pearl, pearl jewelry or strands.
