The Future Rocks’ Ring Takes Lab-Grown to Next Level

"Natural versus lab-grown diamonds is still a hotly debated and complicated topic in our industry, and one that continues to be explored and further understood.
But a pause, if you please, proponents of natural diamonds, for an exceptionally cool creation to consider for that special someone on your holiday gift list.
The Future Rocks (TFR), a retailer of designer-made jewelry with a focus on sustainability, calls it just “The Ring,” and only 20 will be available. This classic solitaire engagement style has one very notable twist: Its band is crafted entirely from a single piece of lab-grown white sapphire.

The design, which is reportedly patent-pending, features a 2 ct. lab-grown diamond center stone with 48 facets and an 18k white gold setting and prongs. The sapphire band was carved and polished both by hand and with laser technology, and took 59 hours to complete, TFR says.
“It is a distillation of TFR’s essence and proof of the artistry that can be achieved when technology and science join hands with human creativity and ambition,” says a corporate press release. “This groundbreaking gem is meant to be a hero piece in any jewelry collector’s treasure trove.”
