A Sophisticated Spin on a ’90s Staple: Men’s Bead Necklaces

Post by PinkDiamond »

Other than the B-boy necklace that looks too feminine, these look just fine for men, although they should stick with real gem beads and not ceramic beads like the blue one in this article. Lucky for us, the last one's opal so check these out. :)

"Men in necklaces have been making style headlines for ages. While dog tags and medallions are always strong choices in men’s neck jewelry, the category bends to trends more than one might think.

Take, for instance, a fashion of the ’90s—an era that’s been making a huge style comeback. On the necks of many a male jewelry wearer back then were big chains (the rap scene had a strong influence here); puka shells and beaded crochet chokers (who didn’t want to be a skater boy in the ’90s?); and a weird assortment of bead necklaces sold at every Hollister and Abercrombie store (everyone wanted to be a surfer, too).

And so the trends pendulum has come swinging back, bringing with it the styles—like men’s bead necklaces—that we came to love (or loathe?) from the ’90s.

Beaded necklaces have been big in women’s and genderless jewelry for the past several years, owing not only to the ’90s influence but also to a desire for a casual, approachable, nostalgic flair in the way we dress.

The new bead necklaces for men feel more mature and refined than ever, which may seem ironic given their kitschy, youthful associations. Make no mistake: These beads are all grown up. Sophisticated and in fine materials, these pieces aren’t flippant fast fashion—they’ve got major staying power.

Here are some of the latest bead necklaces that men can wear.
