Welcome BL :)

I love blueberries but 2 years ago I almost died (no joke) from eating wild 'low-bush' blueberries aka bilberry in the mountains .. not sure what caused the poison because the berries were normal and OK to eat .. but since then I don't eat wild berries :D

Glad to hear the move is going well BL. ;)

I love blueberries too, so I love it when they're in season. I eat wild ones in the off season, but I don't pick them. I buy Wyman's frozen wild blueberries, I think from Maine, which are really small, and I put them in my yogurt every morning. :D

That's awful what happened to you OS. I wouldn't be eating any more wild ones I picked either.

:) it was quite strange experience .. like I said I'm not sure if the berries were the reason for this .. it was allergic like effect
I was with my girlfriend Kate ( I can't say my 'wife' because we are not married but we are together very long :) ) and she had eaten many without any effect and I just tried few ..maybe 10 in total  .. at this point we were out of water - after 5 minutes I started to feel pain in my stomach later the pain was so strong I could not believe .. my throat swallowed and I couldn't breathe I was all sweating and 'water' was coming out from my eyes nose and mouth ( which only made breathing even harder ) on top of that my heart was beating super fast and I almost had heart attack ... Kate was scared but I didn't told her how serious this is so she didn't knew exactly how bad I feel and actually she laughed from me   because I told her I think I will sh*t myself .. and I almost did   lucky after some time I started to feel better :)
as they say - what doesn't kill you makes you stronger ..but still I stay away from wild berries ;) I don't think I would survive this again

Wow. Glad it wasn't fatal OS. You know each year that happens to a few folks. I once had a reaction, to believe it or not,a pot of little smokies beef sausages in a BBQ sauce at a drinking establishment. (The Diamond Inn Bar) Just numb could not swallow for like 5 min. It hit me before I swallowed once. had to go to the bathroom and let gravity, finger clean my mouth. Nose not involved and in 10 minutes it had passed again. It was something MY body did not like. I do like to graze where ever possible. Bluberries are a favorite and Cherries. Wally had them for a buck a pound so I bought 4 bags. One for Scott at the Opal Negra (FOR SALE) and 3 for me. Freeze 3/4 of them for pies later.

Wow, would suck to be alergic to blueberries!

In consideration to the blueblueberry sufferers, I've started a batch of strawberry and pomegranate wine. The juice tasted so good I almost wanted to drink it all right there but figured it will be 10x better as wine for when friends or fellow opalholics make it to the toledo area to visit! (in about 4 months it might be ready....) 8-)
