Hey Jan, Just posted my introduction.

There's already a forum for minerals. Why restrict it to thumbnail specimens ? All natural minerals are beautiful.

One new subject that could be considered is something about cleaning and preparation of minerals and fossils.

Okay, thank you, Don for your suggestion!! :) I'll add it to the list in the "Something you think is missing" thread.

We have a restriction on thumbnail specimens? I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean.

Sorry. Guess my comment wasn't clear. Jan said that she hoped that I would create a thumbnail mineral thread. I asked her why limit it to thumbnail sized specimens. While I prefer the smaller size of specimens due to limited storage area, I think a thread about specimen minerals should include specimens of all sizes.

Love those garnet specimens. The chromian grossular is particularly interesting. Here are a few that take a microscope to best view, but my microscope camera no longer talks to my computer, so I had to shoot some of these through a loupe.

majorite (found in a French meteorite):

kimzeyite (all-American garnet rarity, from Arkansas):

morimotoite (from the Japanese type locality):

uvarovite (bigger than normal, largest xtl is about 10mm):
