Australian opal with unusual flow lines

So is that one to be kept as a specimen because of the flow lines Mila? I can't imagine anything else it could be used for since cutting it would ruin the effect and lose what color it has.

I keep all my opals as specimens. I like them the way they are.

Cute wave. I can't count the stones I've set aside when a good picture appeared. Wouldn't be top dollar in a oval for a ring, so they are worth so much more as specimens. Precious opals have a wide collectors following I dare say that is bigger than any other gem species except maybe agate. Variety affordability and selection of matrices including fossil or mineral replacements.

I have never collected agates. I used to collect thin section of meteorites. They look beautiful under a microscope

Thats real interesting. You should make a post out of it. I switched majors before i got into mineralogy deep. I've got a slice or so for wire wrapping that were etched metal & a vial of crumbly dust from the Meteorite guys south American trips.
