Ball Lightning is Opal?

Ball Lightning is Opal?
Scientists got lucky and caught ball lightning with a spectroscope. I wonder if the lightning made "opal" that promptly burned up or if it just swept up dust with the electrons that make up the plamsa ball. http://physics.aps.org/articles/v7/5
