3D printing

hi all ..
many of us think 3D printing is still something special and 'expensive' ..
I'm not into 3D but just wanted to show you what is going on

here is new Micro3D printer (not the best choice for making jewelry models)



- now many goldsmiths use much better printers and you can get the idea what pro-machines could do

Don't you have to have a cad program to plot out what you want printed?

yes you have to use cad software like rhino or other > 3dMax , Maya , Zbrush..
also you can make the model in wax and scan it and then use program for editing.

now you will pay more for making the 3d design then for printing
. there are plugins for making jewlery and it's not so hard to learn the software ...but it's aint for me

OS, I edited your posts to embed the videos, since we have that capability now courtesy of Chris. Just pull the actual alpha/numeric code for the video from the URL at the top of the page, and plant it between the youtube brackets and voila. Easy peasy, and we don't even need to remember the code we needed before, or to get the embed code; just the alpha/numeric part assigned to the video.
