I hate city flies

I hate city flies ... put up a trap and a foot wide yellow strip no takers ... by now would have had 50 on the strip and the trap would have been half full of country flies ... end rant

Poor George! I'm with you on the dang flies, but even out in the country they're evasive little creeps. I think it was Saturday morning when I went out on the deck and saw insane numbers of flies all over the deck railing. I got the hose and chased them off, but they returned immediately and it was uselss, and then I turned back toward the house, and saw the whole side of the house was covered with them!

As with the deck railing, hosing the side of the house off did nothing to clear them, but thankfully they all seem to have left by the next day, with only one or two seen inside. That's because Steve was away all weekend though; if he was here, since he thinks he lives in a barn and never closes doors behind him, I would have been hunting them down in here for weeks, so I'm counting my lucky stars that he was away.

Flies are the least of our problem here right now, just got a snow storm, and another one is coming this Friday, and also freezing rain over night tonight.

It's been such a warm winter though in general, I'm sure it was not cold enough to kill off all the bugs, the mozzies will be terrible this coming summer, mark my words!

I have gone to putting packing tape on the tops of windows to get them when they go to the light. Also have put loops of duck tape around the ceiling fixtures to cut out that gnat/moth problem. Looks cheesy, but bugs are never going to figure out adhesive. Thats stick the ends and have the glue exposed. I have always been a fan of candles too, but you have to keep clearing them. More attractive than your monitor. Maybe this summer I do screens.....

Because of the cows about; I have to contend with the "face flies" those swarmy numerous fast things that hover in front of your eyes and sit down on everything. They hitch around with the cowboys and ranch vehicles and have a population at the stops- Community center, post office, corner store. Die like any other fly, but talk about "Canberra Salute". [Yeah something Governments like to do. Pick a swamp or bug infested knoll and build a capital there. I think it has to do with the amount of money made building it from scratch as opposed to paying all the current owners for their land in a developed nice place to live.]
