Yep, I much prefer the searchable forums like this to the Fakebook. Think about it, on facebook, you could never follow a thread like you can here. Once it is off the screen it is hard to find.
AND on top of that, I had an experience where a friend of mine died and facebook proved to me they manipulate the posts because my dead buddy all of the sudden a month later "liked" some company that had nothing to do with anything he would of ever been interested in. And I had locked his account for his widow, so I know nobody else was in it. No... Fakebook wanted to push and advertisement to me and their AI knew I was often on his page so it LIED and said he like something when I know he couldn't of!
They have whole industries devoted to folks that make up fake blogs or just ramblings about anything and stick a comment about a particular company that is paying for that blog post. YouTube videos... 99% of the "funny" videos are so somone can make money and mostly not real.
Ummm.. Ok, I think I need to step down. I didn't realize I had a soapbox here.
Anyways, it is uploading into the folder I mentioned earlier. Here is the link again:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing
There is the Microsoft word (docx) version and PDF version. Some pictures where already gone, so if you see a broken link check on the original forum (while we can) and let me know if it is on my end. I tried to leave the page number counting thing in there, but it works out to over 600 pages on the word doc! (YIKES! )
Also, I put a request in to the internet archive (wayback machine) here:
https://archive.org/
I don't know what percentage of the forums is on the archive there, but I know it isn't all there. I told them it was being removed and had lots of good information about various opal locals, formation, mining, cutting, etc... But who knows if they will run a new archive on it or not.
sigh...
