Six More Arrests Made in GIA Hacking Investigation
Less than one-quarter of the affected reports have been returned
Rob Bates | January 27, 2016

"Six more people have been arrested by the Indian authorities in the investigation into unauthorized access of the GIA database, the Institute announced.

GIA declined to give their names, or comment if those arrests included anyone related to the diamond industry.

GIA previously identified the submitting companies, who are no longer permitted to submit stones to its lab pending an investigation.

Indian authorities previously arrested two members of the company’s database service, Tata Consultancy Services, in the case.

To date, only 297 of the 1,042 reports suspected doctored have been returned to GIA, it said. A list of affected reports can be seen here. *use link below to access report and all sublinks*

Anyone with a GIA grading report originally issued between November 2014 and October 2015 who is concerned about its validity may submit the original report and diamond to any GIA location for the confirmation service at no charge. This service will now run to
March 31, extending the previously announced submission date by two months."
