That came out great and she's going to love it. What did you put in the jar with the opals?
Whenever I use cork stoppers I put wax over the cork and the seal to keep liquid from evaporating thru the cork over the years. It's the only way short of using a rubber stopper that I know of to keep water or alcohol in.

Re: Here it is...
I put distilled water in with the opals. I didn't think about evaporation. I'll put was over it to seal it. Thank you for the suggestion. I was pleased with how it went. Not fancy opal, but she knows I mined them myself. Went to Hobby Lobby today and got the little vials, the wire, and the butterfly. My mother's mother loved butterflies. The beads came off of a necklace that belonged to my other grandmother. They are both gone now, so I thought that would bring them in closer to her. She misses them both very much.

Thank you KJ. I may have to try making more stuff like this. I didn't want the pieces to go to waste. I recycle everything.

Re: Here it is...
Thank you crazy8s and SwordfishMining. I hope to actually get an opal out of the rock without it breaking so I can make a ring with it. Since this was my first attempt I expected breakage, not to mention the particular one I chose to start "practicing" and "learning" with was one with some crazing on it. I still had a lot of fun with it and managed to put together something special for my mom.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement. I really like this forum. I know I will learn a lot from you all.
