Malabar Gold & Diamonds Opens 4th U.S. Showroom
Malabar Gold & Diamonds has plans to expand its U.S. presence, recently opening a new store in Naperville, Illinois.
"Naperville, Ill.—Indian jeweler Malabar Gold & Diamonds has opened a new store in Naperville, Illinois, marking its fourth location in the U.S. and its 350th overall.
The new 6,400-square-foot store is located within Patel Plaza.
Complete with a custom design studio, the store offers bridal jewelry as well as everyday wear pieces, stocking 25 exclusive brands and collections.
“The large segment of the Indian subcontinent diaspora in the U.S. is an opportunity for us to expand our offerings to a base of consumers who truly appreciate the artistry of Indian jewelry,” said Shamlal Ahamed, managing director of international operations at Malabar Gold & Diamonds.
The India-based jeweler has locations across the world, including in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Australia, as well as a presence in the Middle East and parts of Asia.
Its three other U.S. stores are located in Chicago, Dallas, and Iselin, N.J., where fellow Indian jewelry brand Tanishq has also opened a store.
Malabar has plans to continue its U.S. expansion, said Ahamed, eyeing new locations in Los Angeles, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Seattle as well as in Austin, Texas; Tampa, Florida; and Virginia.
The company also aims to expand in Canada to British Columbia and Alberta.
Outside of North America, the company is looking to open locations in India, its home country and largest market, as well as new countries, including South Africa, Egypt, Bangladesh, Turkey, and New Zealand.

Malabar executives Shamlal Ahamed and Joseph Eapen attended the opening, also welcoming Somnath Ghosh, consul general of India in Chicago, and Rakesh Patel of Patel Brothers, a supermarket chain that serves the Indian community in the U.S.
