Note: after my experience on the Columbia River decades ago. I know the clouds can open up from socked in then come back as it goes.
From Cornell: Thin clouds can disappear without the Sun light directly on them.
corrected data reveal that, over cooling land surfaces, shallow cumulus clouds start to disappear at very small solar obscurations. Our simulations explain that the cloud response was delayed and was initiated at even smaller solar obscurations.
