That was very interesting and I'm glad he admits that it doesn't look like a natural opal, but it is my understanding that to call any gemstone a synthetic of any type of gemstone, be it diamond, sapphire, emerald or whatever, that the chemical composition and atomic structure is supposed to be an identical' carbon copy' of the gemstone it's imitating, so to speak, so I'm not even sure these should be called synthetic opals. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
