Post by PinkDiamond »

The Gem Legacy advisory council is expanding and adding 7 more more members, some of whose names you'll likely recognize, and they support the artisinal miners in East Africa to help them thrive as a valid and respectable segment of the diamond industry. Here's who's being added. :)

"Gem Legacy, the nonprofit that supports vocational training, entrepreneurship, and community development in East African artisanal gem mining communities, has expanded its advisory council by seven people.

New members include Michelle Graff of National Jeweler, Meghan Margewicz of JCK Luxury, Lika Behar of Lika Behar Collection, Kate Donovan of Accredited Gemologists Association, Jennifer Maxwell of Leigh Maxwell Jewelry, Elle Hill of Hill & Co., and Debra Navarro of Debra Navarro Jewelry.

They join existing advisory council members Niveet Nagpal of Omi Gems and Omi Privé, Jonathan and Brecken Farnsworth of Parlé Jewelry Designs, Katherine Bodoh of American Gem Society, Stuart Robertson of Gemworld International, and Sumit Dangi of Jewelers Mutual.

Council members serve as ambassadors for Gem Legacy and its initiatives, with the goal to enrolling new partners and working with industry organizations and businesses to form alliances with the group.

Gem Legacy board member Ben Smithee said the “new advocates will lead the charge for a unified movement to support the communities that serve as the foundation of our industry.”

Gem Legacy was founded in 2018. JCK profiled the group and its mission here."
