These platinum and diamond earrings by Ondyn are part of the Couture show and Platinum Guild International’s Platinum Spotlight Program, now in its second year.

"Las Vegas—With this year’s Couture show less than a month away, Platinum Guild International is sharing a sneak peek at specially commissioned platinum designs from some of the jewelry trade show’s exhibitors.

Last year, PGI tapped eight designers who typically work in gold to render their creations in platinum.

This year, the designer number has doubled to 16, with 10 brands new to the project and six returning.

New to the “Couture Platinum Spotlight Program” are: Jacquie Aiche, Beck, Lizzie Mandler, Ondyn, Anna Maccieri Rossi, Jade Ruzzo, Sorellina, Ten Thousand Things, Vram, and Emily P. Wheeler.

Returning to the Platinum Spotlight for the second year are: Harwell Godfrey, Retrouvaí, Spinelli Kilcollin, Stephen Webster, Suzanne Kalan, and Walters Faith.

There are few guidelines to the project, with designers able to create a core piece from their collections in the metal, or craft something entirely new.

The designs are meant to increase interest in the metal and showcase its look and benefits.

“As people are getting married later, the availability of non-bridal platinum designs is increasingly important in creating an opportunity to introduce them to platinum much earlier in their jewelry journey,” noted PGI USA President Jenny Luker.

“And having fashion-forward pieces by notable designers is a key piece to platinum’s continued growth.”

Emerald Executive Vice President and Couture Director Gannon Brousseau added, “We have been delighted to witness the artists who have participated in this Platinum Spotlight Program explore a new medium, and the resulting pieces are truly remarkable; we’re looking forward to seeing some amazing new platinum pieces and capsule collections on display during this year’s event.”

Jewels from the Couture Platinum Spotlight Program will be on view at designers’ individual booths and villas.
