That seems to be fact filled for a job inside the official mining industry that is run by profits, not a hobby which is most opal or gemstone miners doing it for the love of the material. We make a living off it, but did not go into it to make a wealthy living off it, well the gamblers do. They have a resource to use, not a money making operation to make a business off of. That being said, whatever gives you a living and these are the rules the bankers run off to grow in size hire employees and so on and so forth. A hole in the ground you dig when you have time is another story. As is often said. The way to make a small fortune in gemstone mining is to start with a LARGE fortune.
