Re: The confused rooster
We've got a confused opossum; or I have a confused husband. The possum thinks he lives here, and comes by every night to check the bowl for scraps of food Steve puts out for him, and while the possum is busy eating, Steve opens the door, reaches out and pets him on the head. You should see the thing begging at the door when there are no scraps out there for him. He's so ugly he's cute, and I named him Schmo.

Possums eat a lot of ticks. They're good to have around.

That is hilarious that the possum comes to the door if there isn't any food for him, and that Steve pets Schmo on the head while he's dining.

Re: The confused rooster
I just learned that possums are beneficial critters. Haven't seen any around but then 2 dogs and 3 cats while keep most things at bay.
Re: The confused rooster
Nice to see/hear something positive about those critters for a change......
Re: The confused rooster
We used to frequently see a 'possum that would eat out of our cat's food bowl, but Heidi, our Corgi-mix will kill them, so we don't see them much any longer.
Another thing that I learned about them is that they usually do not carry rabies because of their low body temperature.
They are great critters to have around to get rid of slugs and pest bugs.

Re: The confused rooster
Confusion is a mans prerogative. It is our only protection in a woman's world. A place we can hide and gather our thoughts, safe in the knowledge that nobody has any idea whats going on inside our heads, especially us..... We don't have possums. We can manage a hedgehog or possibly a brown rat but nobody see the funny side when they turn up at the back door (the rat not the hedgehog). We do have a couple of squirrels who get most upset if I forget to put out the bird-food. I don't mean to be rude but that possum won't win any beauty pageants......
Honesty is the best policy but insanity is the best defense.
