Eaglet falls from nest; rescued and returned

Post by PinkDiamond »

I was horrified when I heard this eaglet had fallen from the nest, but it was alright, and was rescued and returned to the nest, so I thought some of y'all would enjoy seeing this. It's still dark when the baby falls, but you can see the mother stand up and look at the empty spot where it was, and then it cuts to daylight hours and the rescue, which takes quite a while for the guy to get the eaglet into the bag, so you might want to skip to about the 2 minute mark and watch him place it back in the nest, and then comes the next best part. He rearranges twigs on the nest so the eaglets won't be able to tumble overboard so easily, which I thought was so sweet, and made me wonder what the parents were thinking since they were definitely watching him, and I love the way the 3 eaglets watch as he rearranges the nest. Just adorable, and he's safe at home again, or at least as safe as an eaglet can be some 80 odd feet in the air, in a nest with no fencing, perched in a swaying tree.

Much thanks to all who rescued this adorable baby. From Explore.org: :)

Eagle Rescue at Fraser Point!
Earlier this morning, a Fraser Point eaglet tumbled out of the nest. Thanks to the diligence and quick response of Institute for Wildlife Studies, the eaglet was found unharmed and placed back in the nest with its siblings! That parent looked so shocked when the eaglet fell out. How clever of mom and dad to put the nest near a camera where someone would see and offer a hand to put it back.

You know it's the fact 3 chicks usually dont make it. When my ex (the biologist) was counting Spotted owlwets for the Forest service at Toketee in Oregon. It was the summer help, and not the chick, that had to put on the chaps and leather gloves and headgear to climb the tree and count the chicks. Pretty impressive what an owls talons and beak can do to hardened leather. I happened to be a natural for calling them in when i went out with them. Resume, can talk to spotted owls; LOL
