Ever heard of Millerite?

Post by PinkDiamond »

The International Gem Society put out an article on Millerite, which was a new mineral to me, and its formations are really fascinating, so here's the article on it's value, price and uses that has some great information and pics of it. :)

Millerite Value, Price, and Jewelry Information

Millerite has a rich, attractive yellow color. Massive millerites can sometimes be cut into cabochons but are too soft for jewelry use. However, millerite crystals can also have a striking, hair-like appearance. ...

Yes, I believe I still have a couple millerite specimens. Didn't know anyone cabbed it, however!

Actually yes! Had the chance to purchase some last week. I declined and choose black Jade instead... :D

Nope. Did you know you can manipulate some selenite crystals into bends?

Do you mean that they're a bit malleable like metal?

Yes. At least some are. I have not tried it with all of them. But young man came in our booth one day and started bending the 1/2 in in diameter ones before we caught on to what he was doing. He did buy them all when I bitched about it not having been bought yet. Just steady pressure.
