Between the AGS Conclave in Dallas and a host of other in-person (!) events—from the HardRock Summit in Denver to the Sotheby’s Brilliant and Black jewelry showcase in New York City—jewelers’ desire to be out in the world again is palpable. And let’s not forget tomorrow night’s better-late-than-never Met Gala, which you can livestream on Vogue!

Hindman Fine & Important Jewelry Auction: Sept. 13, 11 a.m. ET (in person and online)

Chicago-based Hindman’s September Fine & Important Jewelry auction features 133 lots—including a wide selection of diamond rings, colored-stone jewels, and signed pieces by Verdura, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, and Buccellati. But the star of the show is, unquestionably, Lot 98, a 5.89 ct. Type IIa diamond ring set in platinum by Taffin.

There’s something for everyone at Bonhams’ California Jewels sale. In addition to a slew of Tiffany & Co. greatest hits, “there are lots of no-name gold charm bracelets and diamond-set goodies in the sale as well,” writes All That Glitters columnist Amy Elliott. “And a certain kind of collector is sure to go wild for an oddball menagerie of brooches by famed British jeweler Elizabeth Gage.… Each is a definite highlight of the sale, especially if you prefer newly minted Tiffany to the collector’s items or just delight in the whimsy of animal jewels (I mean, who doesn’t?).”

Marion Fasel Book Signing at Muse Boutique: Sept. 12, 2–4 p.m. ET (in person)
Marion Fasel, author of Beautiful Creatures, is signing book copies today at the Muse boutique in Manhattan’s West Village (605 Hudson St.). The book accompanies the same-named special exhibition in the American Museum of Natural History’s Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals. “There will be baubles to browse and drinks to imbibe,” Fasel wrote on Instagram. “The date marks the beginning of the end of the exhibition. It closes on Sunday, Sept. 19.”
American Gem Society Conclave in Dallas: Sept. 12–14 (in person)

One of the jewelry industry’s most anticipated educational events, the American Gem Society’s international Conclave opens today at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. The schedule is filled with the event’s signature mix of motivational speeches, networking events, and breakout sessions—on everything from succession planning to “the microworld of spinel.” This year’s lineup of keynote speakers includes Apolo Ohno, the eight-time Olympic speed skating medalist; Josh Linkner, a jazz guitarist–turned–tech entrepreneur; and the aviatrix Amelia Rose Earhart.
The IIJS Show in Bangalore: Sept. 15–19 (in person)

The India International Jewellery Show (IIJS), India’s largest gems and jewelry exhibition, will hold a physical show this week, its first since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
IIJS Premiere 2021 will take place at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in Bengaluru. This marks the first time the show will be held outside of its traditional location in Mumbai.

HardRock Summit in Denver: Sept. 16–21 (in person)

The brand-new HardRock Summit opens in the Mile High City on Thursday. Composed of two events—the fossil- and mineral-focused Evolution show at the Colorado Convention Center and the gem- and jewelry-centric Sparkle & Joy event at the Sheraton Downtown—the doubleheader looks to unite the far-flung gem community, consumers, and trade under a single banner.
Sotheby’s Black Jewelry Designer Showcase: Sept. 17 (in person and online)

Brilliant and Black: A Jewelry Renaissance opens to the public on Friday at Sotheby’s New York. The first-of-its-kind selling exhibition, which runs through Sept. 26, features approximately 60 pieces by 21 of the world’s leading Black jewelry designers, with prices ranging from $1,500 to $1 million. Curated by British writer, author, and stylist Melanie Grant, the pieces on offer include custom-made jewels and signature designs spanning a range of periods and styles from the 1950s to the present day.
