Very pretty. Any chatoyancy in that rose quartz? If I have any sunshine at shows or shops, I try to check both front lit and back lit, and have found quite a few that turned out to have cat's eyes or stars. It is one way to find pricey star material at generic rose quartz prices, as not every dealer or cutter checks. I like the satin flash/bubble hyalite, too. Nice when you can find one with the color flashes along the veils and bubbles. I once sold a similar piece and had it returned with a very nasty note complaining of all the "inclusions" (which is the only thing that makes this opal type interesting). The Pigeon Blood agate with the little orbs is also intriguing - it looks a lot like the Strawberry agate from the area around the Alabama/Tennessee border.

That pretty much sums it up Lydia.

My ability to be able to get outside when the sun decides to show its face is limited, and all I've had to inspect them is low sun that's sinking behind the mountain by 4 o'clock, so I haven't had good light for finding asterism in the rose quartz, r2d. All the shots were taken by pushing the black background around to wherever there was a bit of sun peeking thru, so I was amazed to get half-decent shots.

The pink opal knife and other pieces arrived today, and I thought Steve would go nuts when I showed them to him. They are all really impressive, and the opal took a really nice polish, so I'm hoping to get some sunlight so I can go out and shoot them for you tomorrow. :!:

Needless to say, I'm doing the happy dance!!

I was waiting for Steve's aunt to take a nap today so I could take Lucy out for a walk down to the spring, and get some exercise myself, and I planned to shoot the pink opal pieces. Lucy's still terrified to be outside, and when I take her down to the spring she's constantly looking up expecting the hawk to attack her, so I had to carry her down there today, but once there she relaxed and we walked thru the water down to the road, while I looked for new rocks to collect that had been turned up by the rushing waters. It took just over 30 minutes and I told Lucy I'd race her back up the hill, put her back in the enclosure on the deck with her tub and food in it, and came in to get the opals at exactly the moment when his aunt came back, never having napped. But since she should have been napping, I decided not to let her foil my plan and left her sitting in here while I went out to click off a few shots for you anyway.

First up is a 272ct chunk at 69 x 37.45 x 27.11mm
