Zimbabwe crackdown on claimjumpers

Post by SwordfishMining »

Artisanal Miners have it tough all over when the laws are at the whim of the government over rights enforcement. Claimjumping is a way of life for desperate families who have no easier way to get income/food. Free market satisfaction can't be stopped short of society breaking down.

What's sad about it is they rounded up people based on their appearance, in at least one man's case, as well as many who were legally mining on valid claims, so this was very poorly handled, but that didn't stop them from hauling them in. It doesn't even say how many of the 200+ miners they had to release after they falsely arrested legal miners as well in their blanket sting, and it's very sad that poor people who are just trying to survive and feed their families have no recourse and must to try to care for them any way they can. If the government can't or won't assist them, what other alternative do they have but to resort to breaking the law? :?
