Tool Cleaning.

Post by jakesrocks »

A little trick I learned for cleaning tarnish & stains off of small tools. This was meant for leather working tools, but should work equally as well for any of the small lapidary & jewelers tools that we use.

In a glass or plastic container large enough to hold your tools with room above them, place your tools in the container. Fill the container with hot but not boiling water, leaving about an inch of water over the tools. Drop in 2 or more Efferdent denture cleaning tablets. Cover the container and leave for at least 2 hours. Pour the dirty water down the drain, and rinse your tools under running water. Dry tools well. It's that simple. Not only will your tools be clean, but they'll smell "Minty Fresh" too. :D

Here are before & after pics of a set of letter stamps I did last night.
