Hi from New Orleans

Post by NolaOpalMan1 »

I recently have fallen under the opal spell and there's no turning back it seems. I am still in the very beginning stage of deciding which cabbing machine to buy. Guidance of any kind would be greatly appreciated.

Oh good, a new opalholic whose addiction can be nurtured and grown. Welcome aboard NOM1, we're glad to have you join us.

Are you wanting a flat lap or wheels? I use a flat lap; a Hi-Tech Diamond lap like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/184811066816?_ ... 101224.m-1

I'm sure others can give you more ideas, and again, welcome to the forum. :)

Oh, and I noticed you stopped by the chat room, but I missed you, so any time you want to chat, type a message and a number will show in my chat tab so I know someone's there if we're not chatting when you arrive. Then you have to wait until I notice it so give me, or us a few minutes to notice it if John's in there too. ;)

Hiya & Welcome. Leah had a Diamond Pacific Pixie when I came to Virgin Valley & that is all we used for over a decade. Her mom had a Facetron. I hear people that buy the cab king like those. I have a Rock Rascal little saw, then it continued....... I dont have a flat lap or a sphere machine anymore as I was not using all the other stuff i had even. I would like a bigger flat lap to polish slabs & geodes. It comes down to the one you can use & afford. I like the bigger wheels of the genie, but it takes material away faster. With lower quality rough, carving the uneven color bars can be done with a flex shaft easier and the dremel is about the least expensive tool past sandpaper. The Pixie traveled to shows well.
