Are the Cockies getting out of hand in Tasmania?

Post by SwordfishMining »

Poppy-pillaging parrots are the latest scourge of farmers in Tasmania. Flocks of hundreds of cockatoos are ravaging the fields of farmers who grow the plants that produce that bagel and kaiser roll mainstay — poppy seeds — on the Australian island, but experts caution it’s likely not due to an addiction to the opioid-producing plants.

That's too funny that the guy has to run around chasing them off in the morning and at night, and they're probably right that the birds aren't eating the poppy seeds to catch a buzz.

It will be interesting to see if they return to feast again next year now that they have discovered them. :)
