Post by PinkDiamond »

There are some wonderful pieces in this one, although the last one is so bizarre I can't even describe it to you so you'll have to see it and what it's made of below for yourself. Check these out and see if there's anything on the agenda this week that you'd like to attend. :)

"Labor Day weekend is upon us. Should you find yourself near Savannah, Ga., don’t miss the ring exhibition on display at the Savannah College of Art and Design’s Museum of Art. Or simply rest up for the week ahead, which sees the opening of the in-person VicenzaOro fair in Italy, the return of WJA’s Jewelry Night Out, and the start of New York Fashion Week. The long weekend also coincides with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, which begins on Monday evening. Shana tova!

Gemflix Conversation on Artist Jewelry: Sept. 9, 12 p.m. ET (online)

Gemflix explores the world of artist-made jewelry in its next webinar, a conversation with dealers Didier and Martine Haspeslagh, cohosted with TEFAF Online. The Haspeslaghs will discuss the finer points of what makes a jewel wearable art by sharing three pieces by Lucio Fontana, Arnaldo Pomodoro, and Claude Lalanne, all made with the help of GianCarlo Montebello, a genius facilitator who enabled many artists to translate their creativity into jewelry art.

Connect with industry professionals at the Women’s Jewelry Association’s ninth annual Jewelry Night Out event, taking place live in the historic Grand Ballroom of the 3 West Club in midtown Manhattan. Award-winning costume designer Stephanie Maslansky will be the guest speaker. She will discuss the role of jewelry in film and how it helps create character. Her presentation will be followed by a Q&A with Michelle Graff, editor-in-chief of National Jeweler.

As per local regulations for indoor entertainment, masks and proof of vaccination are required and will be checked. Organizers ask that you bring your vaccination card or use the Excelsior Pass App to verify at the door. And don’t forget your business cards for the evening’s spate of raffle prizes. General tickets (until Sept. 6) are $80 for members and $90 for non-members, and door tickets (after Sept. 6) are $100 for members and $125 for non-members.

Buyers in search of chic Italian design are poised to flock to northern Italy this week for the VicenzaOro September fair, which runs Sept. 10–14. It will be the first international buying show in Europe since quarantines began in the spring of 2020, and if the success of the recent JCK Las Vegas show is anything to go by, don’t be surprised to find the halls crowded with buyers eager to stock up for the coming holiday season. Veni, vidi, vici!
