Couldnt help but notice this price in Coober Pedy in a video

Two small chips, not much color. Ive always said chips are underated.

If he can get 29 for that, how much for some color?

The highest markup has always been the lowest cost item. I offer 2/3 full 1/2 oz gold vials for 10 and 1oz size for 20 myself. I refused to sell my chips to the guy sticking them in epoxy for paper weights. When i do test tubes for color I end up around a hundred 1/2 to 5x depending on gemminess. I'm never going to suggest putting one in my pocket with the keys and the rocks tho'.

I love chips in tiny vials for jewelry, but I have to agree that's a pretty steep price for such a tiny amount.

John, yours are full of chips and not gold dust, right?

Back when us wee folk were allowed to sell at OA, my wife and i started doing that vial thing as i was inspired by the vials of hungarian opal back in the early 1980s that required water to have color and so were in vials. never thought that after that so many would do it as it was good money and i was stuck with a bunch of flea bay crap i decided was worth more post hammer and tweezer... did pretty good with the vial crosses..
