Welo Heart - WIP

Post by kjsspot »

Speaking of welos...

I purchased this in the rough. The rough was gorgeous. But as with most welos, it changed after wetting and drying. I had hoped it would come back much better than this but it hasn't changed anymore in several months now so this is prob all it's going to do. I like this shape and had plans for setting it but the fire didn't stay after drying. Not enough. I'm probably gonna have to shave off the top lip to reveal the better fire in the back.

What a shame that it's one of the ones that get ugly when wet, KJ. It's beautiful with that shape, and would have been really something if it hadn't clouded up. :o

Do you think maybe cutting it dry would reveal more color, or would you chance wetting it again? I'm also wondering if this type might still be retaining water, causing the cloudiness, and I'm wondering if they were put on a low heat source for a few days if they might dry out further, and maybe revert back to their original appearance. I haven't tried it so if anyone has I'd like to hear if it helped any, because putting them in with desiccants doesn't do a thing for them. :?

It's been almost a year since I cut it so I don't think it's going to dry out more. But I can always try the heating pad. And yes, if I cut it dry it would have retained it's original color. BUT I won't do that because then my customer would be in danger of it changing on them. So I need to make sure I know what each stone's going to do before I sell it.
