Wow what a whirlwind life has become! Good news and bad news

I have some updates

Good news:

I am now the owner/CEO of my first business, Unique World Wide Opals, LLC!!!

I have been working VERY hard in securing contacts all around the world to create my own supply chain of raw materials

Here’s an example of a piece that I’ve been working on that will be in jewelry soon. Cherry Opal with full spectrum of colors. EDIT: This is a "Worldwide" opal, not from the VV but from somewhere else.

Bad news:

I lost a lot of money worth of rough opal that became crazed due to a window in my office being left open all night without my knowledge. I store my rough in water regardless of its origin, and didn’t expect 16 hours of uncontrolled exposure and temperature shift... Rough/jagged edges are as much a factor as the evaporation itself it seems.

But I will keep going! Still have more to work with despite the loss

Wow, that is one fantastic opal, Shea. What's its weight and size? :?:

And a BIG congrats on your new business!! That is wonderful, and I wish you success in every way. :D

That's awful about the loss, but maybe you can salvage smaller pieces of them and not lose it all. Hope so, anyway. Best of luck with all of it. :)

Those turned out real good looking. I'm sure the owner will wear it with pride. Shared in the Virgin Valley Group on Facebook.

Oh no! This cherry opal isn't from the VV!

I have restrained from sharing the location of this material... I apologize for the confusion I made by witholding details, I was hoping to avoid awkwardness by not mentioning where it's from....

I am experiencing all kinds of dilemmas with not having a single sale yet, like whether or not to share certain kinds of information.. The location of this material being one dilemma. I have had to sleuth through many contacts, not all of them free or honest (I have also been ripped off for thousands along the way) to finally find a few good men to help me with my supply chain.

I have gone through hundreds of men/contacts to arrive at this kind of opal and it has taken me years to build the necessary social capital to gain their trust as well.... hopefully this helps reveal why I'm not trying to tell the world all of my opal secrets.

Again, sorry for the confusion!

No worries. I dont disclose which claim i get stuff off and certainly not where it came from in that 20 acres. Thieves and unscrupulous people abound looking for others to take advantage of. There are a lot of scammers posing as buyers online. Always get cash up front and insure it fully.
